Apple iPhone 3GS
The first and probably most well known Smartphone is the Apple iPhone 3GS. The Apple iPhone 3GS looks almost identical to its predecessor the Apple iPhone 3G but has the option of a white version if you would prefer it. With the screen measuring at an impressive 3.5 inches the iPhone has been deemed as one of the most user-friendly touch screens currently available on the market, especially when combined with its copy and paste and voice control features. The added 'S' to the name stands for 'speed' meaning the new iPhone 3GS can do everything the 3G did – but faster. The iPhone comes with either a 16GB or 32GB memory which is very handy if you like storing things; the 3GS also includes a 3 megapixel camera. 3 megapixels may not be a lot but the device makes up for it with its other excellent features. The phones operating system is the Apple Mac OS X. Nokia E71x
The Nokia E71x is one of the more affordably priced Smartphone's currently on the market. The E71x has 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, a 3.2 megapixel camera, XM Radio, music player and is able to boast other nifty features. Also with a QWERTY keypad and a fairly large screen this is a very user-friendly phone when it comes to using and writing messages. The build quality of this device is absolutely superb and finished to a very high standard. The E71x also allows you to receive emails directly to your phone. The operating system currently used for this phone is the Symbian S60 3.2.
BlackBerry Curve 8900
The BlackBerry Curve 8900 is the slimmest BlackBerry currently out on the market. The 8900 comes with a built-in music player, XM Radio, Bluetooth, Speakerphone, a 3.2 megapixel camera, a new trackerball, GPS and Wi-Fi. This device is excellent if you like to keep on track of your emails as you can sync up to 10 different email addresses with the device at any given time. A QWERTY keypad and a 2.4-inch TFT LCD screen built in to the device help the user view their messages and webpage's with ease. Although the 8900 does not have 3G support it is definitely an improved update in the BlackBerry series, and as a proud owner of the BlackBerry Curve 8900 I can highly recommend it for anybody. This phone currently uses the BlackBerry operating system, and has an expandable memory of up to 16GB.
Nokia N97
Another Nokia to make the list is the Nokia N97. The N97 rivals the iPhone with its impressively large and responsive touch screen but also incorporates a very well-spaced QWERTY keypad on the handset. Having both the touch screen and QWERTY keypad makes user friendliness one of the best features for this device; however this is not the only impressive feature on the phone. The N97 boasts an impressive 5 megapixel camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 32GB's of memory and supports Wi-Fi. The battery life on the N97 is fairly average but this can be expected from the amount of features on the device. The N97 also has Bluetooth capabilities, GPS and an impressive web browser. The current operating system for the N97 is the Symbian series 60.
Palm Pre
The Palm Pre is another multitouch Smartphone which has an amazing display and has a very solid build quality. The Palm Pre comes with some fantastic connectivity options such as Bluetooth, 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS and also boasts an excellent web browser. The battery life on this device tends to run out pretty fast if you use a lot of the features all of the time but this can be expected from most devices like this. The touch-screen on the Palm Pre also measures at an impressive 3.1 inches and is fairly responsive but does feel a little inferior compared to the iPhone and the Nokia E71x. The Palm Pre also has a built in camera and music player and comes pre-programmed with different messenger services such as AOL messenger and Yahoo! messenger. This Smartphone would be more suitable for any gadget lovers rather than people who are on-the-go but is still a great device none the less. The current operating system for this phone is the Palm webOS.
